Ayilya Nair, better known by her stage name Ananya, is an Indian film actress, who appears in Malayalam and Tamil films.
Ananya made her acting debut in Malayalam with Positive (2008) and debuted the following year in Tamil with Naadodigal, which emerged a critical and commercial success.[1] She received the Kerala State Television Award for Best Actress in 2012 for the telefilm Doore and the Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actress – Tamil for Engaeyum Eppothum in 2011.

Ananya was born as Ayilya to Malayali parents Gopalakrishnan Nair, a noted film producer, and Praseetha in Kothamangalam, Kerala.[2] She has one younger brother Arjun. She appeared as a child artist in one of her father's productions (executive producer), Pai Brothers (1995).[3] Ananya pursued a B.A. degree in Communicative English at St. Xavier's College, Aluva.[2][3] During her childhood, she was an archer and won the State Championship.[4] While representing her college in a television reality show 'Star Wars',[2] she was spotted by various directors and received acting offers. After declining five projects, she decided to give it a try, accepting to act in Positive.[3]
Film career[edit]
Her screenname changed to Ananya, when she was working in her debut Tamil film Naadodigal.[4] The film was a high commercial success,[5] and Ananya rose to fame, with her performance in the film being appreciated.[6] She went on to reprise the same role in its Malayalam remake Ithu Nammude Katha. The film Shikkar alongside Mohanlal, gave her a big break in Malayalam. She did some thrilling scenes in the climax of the movie Shikkar that impressed Mohanlal, which made him call her the 'Vijayashanti' of Malayalam.[7] She also played a supporting role in Kandahar, which saw her sharing screen space with Mohanlal and Amitabh Bachchan.[8] In 2011, Ananya played one of the female lead roles in Engeyum Eppodhum, which received rave reviews and became a sleeper hit.[9][10]
In 2014, she appeared in Pulivaal, her first Tamil release after three years.[11]As of 2018 she has Sigappu Rojakkal 2'in Tamil, Intintaa Annamayya in Telugu ,Ameya in Malayalam delayed for release.

Born on 15th June 1988 in Hyderabad to Marathi mother and Telugu father. Her Father served as Central Government Employee in ESIC Hyderabad. Spending a lot of her childhood in Maharashtra with her mother and siblings she has a more command over Marathi than Telugu. Later her schooling and further education happened in Hyderabad. Seeing her interest in cultural activities her parents encouraged her to join Bal Bhavan Since then she has been trained in classical dancing and western as well which helped her a lot in her future in her acting career.
Made her acting debut as a child artist in the Telugu film 'Aahaa' which starred Jagapati Babu in 1998 directed by Suresh Krishna and produced under Annapurna Studios banner. Since she has been active in films and shared the screen with the South India's top actors like Mega Star Chiranjeevi, Akkineni Nagarjuna, Nandamuri Balakrishna, Jagapati Babu, Mahesh Babu, Pawan Kalyan, Hero Jeyam Ravi, Hero Allu Arjun, Hero Siddharth and many others. Worked under eminent Directors like K.Raghavendra Rao, Jayanth C.Paranjee, Srinu Vaitla,Gunasekhar, Kishore(Dolly), Koratala Siva,Lawrence,Ameer Sultan, Suresh Krishna to name a few.
Her performance in Akkineni Nagarjuna . and Lawrence Master's Mass movie got her a good recognition and name, was later chosen for a prominent role in Shankar Dada MBBS, the blockbuster film of Mega star Chiranjeevi Which continued with a lot of films since then. Known for choosing decent roles in top movies playing prominent roles at regular intervals, entertaining the Telugu and Tamil audiences.
She has also anchored a TV travel show named Vihari The Traveller on Maa Tv which has a record telecast of 12years since its inception. Making her the first anchor in the Telugu television history to host a programme for more than 10 years of telecast. She started her Television Career with Yuva in 2007 produced by Akkineni Nagarjuna . aired on Maa Tv.
