Sep 22, 2015  When testing the RSoP for the machine and user account, the only user account that comes back from the workstation as available to test against, is a local admin account for the local machine. May 27, 2016 - While the gpresult command, using the /h or /s switches, can grab a partial RSoP report, often when running it in a session as a user, it will not. INFO: The user 'Domain Name User Name' does not have RSOP data. User and checked the HKY_LOCAL_MACHINE Software Policies Microsoft Windows.

  1. Unable To Generate Rsop Data

I've built a new AC domain consisting of two DCs running Windows server 2012R2, both Hyper-V virtuals (hosted on WS2012R2). I've successfully added two computers to the new domain. All seems to be OK except for this:

When I open the 'Active Directory Users and Computers' console and right click on a computer there -> 'All tasks' -> 'Resultant Set of Policy (Planning)..' .. nothing happens. Nothing at all. No new window, no error, no anything :/

Interestingly, when I do the same for an user, it works - it opens the wizzard window.

On the client machine, when I try:

in the cmd, I get this:

When I try it as an administrator (via 'runas'), I get this:

Where might be the problem? I consider this a very essential debugging tool and I do not want to make the switch to the new AC domain until I get this issue resolved.

PS: In the old (still active) AC domain with WS2008R2 when I do the same for a computer, a new window labeled 'Resultant Set of Policy Wizard' is properly opened and functional.

Gp result the user does not have rsop data

Thank you very much!

Note: I would like a generic solution taking into account that in future can be more than 6 emails by category. Also take into account that some emails can be empty for the category.

  • Problem with powershell script for AD server Status

  • How to fix Access is denied to path error asp.net application accessing network share

I have an asp.net app that writes files from the web server to a network share. The app receives Access to the path 'sanfs1SupportingDocs' is denied.

The IIS site has asp.net impersonation and windows authentication enabled. The asp.net auth is set to specific user: ldap_bind that has a password. the app pool identity is 'Network Service'. • how to get more detailed information clients listed in network browser / or 'net view' command

On Windows 10, or Server 2016 I see a computer in the network browser of windows explorer which does not belong in our network (also by issuing the 'net view' command in the command line).

I want to have more information (mac address), so that I can track down in our switch, where the computer was connected in our network.

I will get no response when I ping the hostname (icmp is ether blocked, or the client is no longer in the network).

Or when I enter the 'getmac /s computername', I get the error 'RPC server is not available'

nbtstat -a computername delivers 'host not found'.

We also checked our DHCP server and didn't find the client there.

I have not found a way, how I can list all information from the 'computername' (specifically MAC address) which is still cached on many client systems, where the information still shows when I enter 'net view' or browse the network in windows explorer.

I hope one of you have and idea, regarding a tool, or commend how I can at least get the mac address, to further track down where the client was connected to our network.

  • Is there a way to restrict a WINDOWS ADMINISTRATOR to running a specific program only via group policy?

We are using cloud infrastructure with a Terminal Server for users and Application Servers that allow Administrator access only. The issue is we have an application that is installed on both TS and APP servers that requires frequent updates. We update the application on the Application Server first. The 'updated files' are placed in a share and the Terminal server users can then apply the updates to the application on the Terminal server. I'd like to elect a user to be able to updated the Application Server herself; however, I do not want to allow her to harm any other applications or data on the application server (It also contains our SQL Server Instances and other important data shares). Id like her to log into the application server and restrict her to running a specific application only.

I've done research and understand how to restrict users to running stuff on the desktop only. (I've accomplished that on the terminal server) I just don't think there is a way to take away the command prompt and all the other Administrative access/privileges and still allow her Administrative access to the server. I do not have the luxury of a test infrastructure and do not want the risk of corrupting out security model through experimentation with the group policies.

  • extract a particular group policy setting from multiple group policies using powershell

I have many group policies in my domain. I have extracted an html report of all the group policies. I want to create a report of all the group policies having the Restricted Groups settings defined with the values in the Group, members and memberoff section:

    Like Below:

I want to create a report like this for all the GPO's which have the Restricted Group setting defined in them.

So far I have extracted the list of GPO's which have the restricted group settings defined in them using the below:

Any idea how to move further from here to create the report? Can I rather create a report of all the gpos in xml format and then search through those xml files to create the report as above?

  • Powershell Script Wrapper for Running as Admin

I am writing a script to deploy through group policy. The script deletes a number of registry settings to fix an issue we have on our build of Windows. The script needs to run as an administrator as the keys exist in hives that require admin rights to delete.

Because GP runs powershell scripts as the logged on user, I am looking at creating a wrapper which will read an encrypted password for the local user account and then run the script with it.

My script is able to read the credential, but I am getting errors when running the start-process command. If I try and reference the script it will give the error that the path doesn't exist, even though you can dump the contents using cat .

I then tried reading it into a variable and running powershell with the -command argument. If I do this I get an error.

'Start-Process : This command cannot be run due to the error: The parameter is incorrect'

I understand that I need to enclose the code in braces, but I am not sure how this is done as concatenating them to the string doesn't work.

I just need a way of executing the code in my second script, but I can't work out how to do this as it's not behaving as expected. Sorry, as I am sure I am missing something obvious.

Data

Is there a way to get gpresult to work without never logging in to computer as an actual user?

Lets say UserA is logging in to computer XYZ. You login via TeamViewer to it or are there locally as AdminA, you right click Run As Administrator, type in your administative credentials you type in the famous gpresult /R command to get computer GPO's and it's simply not there.

You try to do it remotely and it fails as well..

How to force it so you can actually get that data as Domain Admin or Administrator on that computer (but not a user) and a user that has never actually logged in to that computer?

For years I thought this was just 'working' but it seems I've always been logged in to the computer via RDP or other means and it always worked. Now it doesn't.. and I need a way to debug this properly.

Is my only option actually to login as standard user and then do the commands?

Yes, it can be done without doing a interactive login, although you need to know a user that has actually done an interactive login on that computer. In your case, UserA would do it. Then, from an elevated prompt:
